This ensures that any forces are distributed along the abutment.
The design is similar to those used by Network Rail for similar installations.
To have a stand alone structure on each side would involve substantial foundations at each corner and also would require the supports to be built on land not owned by the railway. However, I see it is actually being anchored to the walls which will inevitably bear a large part of that force, saving the steel bridge but instead possibly resulting in damage to the supporting brickwork. This puzzles me. The C&M blog suggests that the bench you have should be installed at Winchcombe. Perhaps you need to do a swap.PaulKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08499643265058144113noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1845749777682346343.post-29531092148211598162018-09-07T11:07:59.781+01:002018-09-07T11:07:59.781+01:00Whoever installed the intake pipe to what appears ...Whoever installed the intake pipe to what appears to be a gas meter cabinet for the kitchen has not done a very professional job. The pipe leans away from the lower wall rather than being tight up against it, and possibly held to it by a saddle, and the installers should be got back to put it right rather than leaving a shoddy piece of work marring the excellent work done by volunteers.
